Gallery Visit – Chagall and the Bible
Friday, September 15, 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Wycliffe College is current host to an extraordinary exhibition of over fifty etchings and lithographs by Marc Chagall illustrating biblical episodes from Eden to King David and beyond. Chagall, who is considered to be the foremost illustrator of the Bible in the 20th century, was greatly influenced by his Russian-Jewish roots. Please join us Friday, September 15 for a private group visit. Redeemer member Sylvia Wang, a doctoral candidate in art history at U of T, will talk about the etchings, and we’ll focus on the group of images that illustrate the Book of Ruth. (For more on the book of Ruth, check out the Sunday Explorations session for September 10.) Meet in the entry hall of Wycliffe College, 5 Hoskin Avenue, at 6:30 PM.
