SUMMARY:Compassionate Communities: Addiction\, Recovery and their Connection to the Poor
DESCRIPTION:One of the most prevalent questions related to poverty is the seeming connection to the use of drugs and alcohol. Does addiction more often cause homelessness\, or does being unhoused increase the likelihood of substance use? What attitude and posture are needed if we are going to find solutions? Join Jim Willis\, Case management and support worker\, Amanda Hintzen\, Addictions Counsellor\, Dr Jonathan Wong\, ICHA street doctor\, and Nithyen Manohar\, ICHA street nurse\, as we discuss the challenges of addiction\, the paths to recovery\, and how it affects the most vulnerable in our communities. Q&A to follow. \nThis is the next event in our Compassionate Communities series\, offered in partnership by the Redeemer Explorers Committee of Church of the Redeemer and the Common Table. The event takes place on the main floor of the church and will be livestreamed through YouTube. \nRegistration

SUMMARY:Celebration of Ministry
DESCRIPTION:We gather at 4 PM to celebrate and bless the ministry of four of the newest members to the Redeemer ministry team: Lor (Children\, Youth\, and Families)\, Morgan (AV Tech)\, Brianna (Office staff)\, and Tom (Common Table). We begin with a service of blessing and continue to break bread with a potluck meal. All are invited to be part of this moment in our life as a community. Sign-up sheets for the potluck are on the wall by the kitchenette window. We will gather in the church building and on Zoom. \nJoin us on Zoom \nOur ability to gather for worship\, fellowship and formation and to support the many outreach ministries that are integral to our call to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world is possible thanks to the generous donations of parishioners and friends of the community. If you would like to share in this ongoing work\, your gifts are gratefully received. Thank you for your generosity. \n
