DESCRIPTION:Julian of Norwich is a beloved figure of feminist spirituality. She wrote the first book in English that we know was authored by a woman: an account of visions she received during a near-death experience.\n\nBut what was her life really like\, in the middle of a complex\, prosperous medieval city? Medieval studies scholar and member of Redeemer David Townsend will talk about his recently published novel\, The Ram in the Thicket\, which he wrote to explore that question. Sharon Kirby will read selections from the book. Copies of the book will be available after the talk. In the main worship space on Wednesday\, December 10 at 7 PM.\n\nIf you can’t join in the church building\, please participate online through our YouTube Channel.

DESCRIPTION:How can we begin to comprehend the horrific violence and polarization that now grip Israel and Palestine? How can we resist the demonizing oversimplifications that characterize so many current responses? How can we in some small way ourselves advocate for peace\, and for a future of compassion and mutual respect? \nHow can we parse apart revulsion against the actions of Hamas from the phenomena of Islamophobia? How can we parse apart condemnation of the actions of the current Israeli government and Defense Forces from the phenomena of anti-Semitism? How can we as Christians best express our solidarity with Jewish and Muslim fellow citizens\, friends and neighbours?
