SUMMARY:A Service of Darkness
DESCRIPTION:This Service of Darkness – invites us to focus on the shadows that occupy much of the space in Holy Week. With a glance towards the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus\, we pause to dwell in the natural\, and life-giving darkness that so often surrounds our lives. The extinguishing of the candles represents our journey towards Good Friday. The candles will be extinguished one by one\, excepting the final candle\, which will be obscured from sight\, though never snuffed out.\n\n\nWe gather in the church and online through YouTube.\n\n\n\n\nThings you will need for the service:\nIf you are joining in from home\, we invite you to light six candles and extinguish one at each moment in the liturgy where this happens. \n\n\n\nThe Bulletin for the service. \n \n\nOur ability to continue to offer outreach support through the Common Table and prayerful presence to the whole community is possible thanks to the generous donations of parishioners and friends of the community. DESCRIPTION:We wash the disciples’ feet\, we remember the Last Supper\, we strip the altar\, and we watch and we hold vigil for one hour just as Jesus’ followers did. Our Maundy Thursday service marks the beginning of the three days that take us from upper room to betrayal; from trial to cross; from tomb to empty tomb. \nWe gather in the church and online through YouTube.\n\n\n\n\nThings you will need for the service:\nIf you are joining in from home\, we invite you to have a basin of water and towels so that your feet (and any members of your household) may be washed.
