News, Worship

Advent at Redeemer

The Season of Advent is an invitation for us to wait, to watch, to prepare. The world around us says to hurry up because there is much to do. We take the time in this Season to slow down, to be still, to pray. Join in as we gather in worship:

Worship on Zoom:

Sunday mornings at 9 AM – the link is included in the calendar post and in eNews

Sung Eucharist:

Sunday mornings at 10:30 AM – in the church building and online through Youtube

Advent Carol Service:

Sunday, November 30 at 4 PM

All are invited to our Advent Carol service. Poetry and readings are woven through this beloved candle-lit service of anthems and carols. We invite you to journey with us through Advent. The service will also be live-streamed through YouTube.

Imagining the Life of Julian of Norwich: A Book Talk with David Townsend

Wednesday, December 10 at 7 PM

Julian of Norwich is a beloved figure of feminist spirituality. She wrote the first book in English that we know was authored by a woman: an account of visions she received during a near-death experience.
But what was her life really like, in the middle of a complex, prosperous medieval city? Medieval studies scholar and member of Redeemer David Townsend will talk about his recently published novel, The Ram in the Thicket, which he wrote to explore that question. Sharon Kirby will read selections from the book. Copies of the book will be available after the talk. In the main worship space. If you can’t join in the church building, please participate online through our YouTube Channel.

Bach Vespers:

Sunday, December 14 at 4 PM

This choir and orchestra-led service of prayer and music highlights a Bach Cantata and how the music draws out our gospel story. The Cantata for this service is BWV 243 – Magnificat. In addition to the community that gathers in the church building, the service will be available through YouTube

Christmas Carols on the Steps

Thursday, December 18 at 6 PM

The tradition of carolling on the front steps continues!
Our choir gathers early for their final rehearsal before Christmas to bring the beautiful gift of Christmas carols to our busy street corner. Join in the singing from the steps or enjoy the songs from the sidewalk. Hot chocolate and sweets in the church afterwards.

Quiet Christmas

Sunday, December 21 at 4 PM

Sometimes the Christmas Season is difficult. Sometimes attending a Christmas service is hard. The season may not be cheery and bright because of loss, distance, or stress. The joyous sounds of big crowds and equally big music may be too joyous and big. The Quiet Christmas service offers time and space to step apart from the sounds of the world around us into candlelight, stillness, song, and prayer. Come, there is a place for you.

This service will be available online through YouTube, as well.
