Eucharist at the Island
Saturday, August 17, 9:30am
The Becoming Pilgrims and Creation Matters committees invite you to come away to Toronto Island (Centre Island) to celebrate the Eucharist in an idyllic place apart from the hot hustle and bustle of the city at St. Andrew’s by-the-Lake on Saturday, August 17. We will gather on the lawn of St. Andrew’s by the labyrinth or firepit. The service will begin at 10:45 AM.
Please bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and a blanket or large towel on which to sit outside for the Liturgy of the Word.
After the service, we will make our way to the Riveria Café for lunch together. Or, if you prefer, you can picnic, have fun on the rides at Centreville, sunbathe on a beach of your choice, or walk to the lighthouse or Hanlan’s Point for a pilgrimage on foot.
Getting to the Island
We will travel on the Centre Island ferry that departs the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal at 9:45 AM. We will meet at 9:30 AM sharp. We strongly advise purchasing your tickets online before Saturday. You can also take the 10:20 AM ferry, but it is likely to be more crowded. Please note that Susan has done some reconnaissance and the line-ups reported in the media do not occur until around noon.
From the Centre Island ferry docks, follow the signs for Ward’s Island and the church. Centreville will be on your left as you walk. It is approximately a 15-minute walk. This pilgrimage is “walking-light.”
We hope to see many of you there – young and young-at-heart, landlubbers, and pilgrims of all kinds.
