The Rev’d David Giffen, on behalf of the Bishop, is pleased to announce that Roshni Jayawardena will be joining us on May 1, 2018 as our new Assistant Curate. Roshni completed a student placement with us from September to December 2017. She is in her final semester at Trinity College completing her Masters of Divinity, and to be ordained to the diaconate in May.
While Roshni’s family parish is St. Peter’s Erindale, in addition to her placement at Redeemern, she has completed placements at St. Margaret’s New Toronto, St. George’s on the Hill, and a CPE unit at Bridgepoint hospital. She has an Honours Bachelor of Arts from Wilfrid Laurier in Communications and Political Science, with a minor in Women and Gender Studies, and a post-graduate certificate in Event Management from Humber College.
Roshni has had a variety of leadership positions and opportunities in children and family ministry, and enthusiastically uses her event management background for sharing the gospel through mission and outreach. Roshni has been raised in a multi-faith home and this environment has fostered her interest in interfaith work and enriched her understanding of God and faith.
Roshni and her fiancé Farhaz have been together for six years and are to be married in 2019. Roshni is very excited to join the parish of Redeemer again, returning for her curacy! And, we are equally excited to be welcoming her back.
