We are pleased to announce the appointment of our new Pastoral Associate for Youth and Young Adults! Hilary Keachie will be joining us in January and we are counting down the days to her official arrival.
Here is a glimpse of who Hilary is and what she brings to our community.
Hilary grew up as a PK – Preacher’s Kid – and has been involved in the church in one way or another ever since. She completed a Masters of Theological Studies in May 2018, including a full time parish internship at St. Paul’s Within-the-Walls Episcopal Church in Rome and a thesis on Muslim-Christian dialogue in the 9th Century. She also has a B.Ed from OISE, U of T, and a B.A. from McGill in World Religions, French and Political Science. She has worked and volunteered with children and teens for over a decade including mobilizing young people to take action on the Millenium Development Goals and malaria eradication, organizing international and interfaith youth camps, and teaching French and Phys. Ed at elementary schools. But it is children and youth ministry that has been her passion and focus. She feels privileged to have had the opportunity to learn and grow in faith alongside curious and thought-provoking children and teens, and is excited to get to know and continue this journey with the young people of Redeemer.
Hilary recently moved downtown with her husband Luke and their two kids, Emmett and Gabriel. She loves watching her little boys’ sense of wonder and amazement at the world. It gives new appreciation for things like construction, street cars and shopping carts – who knew that such things could bring so much delight?!
