David says of his time in Bethlehem the other day, “I cannot be here and pray here and find renewal here without really seeing what is happening here – not just in the history books, but in the here and now.
I am praying tonight for the liberation of all who suffer oppression, for freedom for all who find themselves captive, and for eyes to see ourselves for who we really are, and not just the sentimental characters we’d like to be.”
We hold David in our prayers during this time away, that he returns home next week renewed, with experiences that will shape us as he opens scripture with fresh insights.
