The Indigenous Solidarity Working Group has developed a proposal for a mural to be painted by a prominent Indigenous artist. The mural would be installed on the lower cement section of the wall along Avenue Road.
A theme has not been chosen for the mural, but it will be an acknowledgement and celebration of the presence of Indigenous people on this land. As part of this consultation, there is a unique opportunity to generate ideas to share with the artist.
It is hoped that the parish will consider the proposal in the fall. Should the parish approve the mural, a formal application would be submitted to the committee at City Hall which funds murals in Toronto.
More information and the proposal are available here.
